The finals of the European Cup and the European Challenge, scheduled for Marseille in October, will be contested "in one or two new stadiums", announced Thursday the organizer of the European rugby tournaments.

"Due to the many uncertainties linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was decided that the 2020 Champions Cup and Challenge Cup finals could no longer take place in Marseille as planned," said the EPCR in a communicated.

"The EPCR is currently working with its leagues and shareholder federations to find one or two replacement stadium (s) for the two finals which will be played during the weekend of 16-17-18 October," added the authority.

Originally scheduled for late May, the finals of the two European competitions had been rescheduled due to the pandemic.

Marseille will host the finals of the 2021 season on May 21 and 22, however. The 2022 edition will end at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The quarter-finals (September 18, 19, 20) of the current season, like the semi-finals (September 25, 26, 27), are maintained. "The exact dates and times, the stadiums and the broadcasters of these meetings will be communicated as soon as possible", specifies the EPCR.
