A young American Muslim woman filed a lawsuit against a large company after presenting her coffee cup with the English initials of "ISIS" in a Starbucks café, according to local media.

CNN reported on Wednesday that the young woman, Aisha, had filed a suit for discrimination against her after she handed over to Cuba the letter "ISIS", instead of her name, from a Starbucks employee in the Targate store in Minnesota, USA.

Aisha, 19, told CNN that she felt discriminated against because of her religious beliefs after seeing the word "ISIS" written on the mug presented to her.

"I felt humiliated and humiliated the moment I saw that word on the cup. It is a word that tarnishes the reputation of Muslims all over the world," the young American added.

"I cannot believe that on this day and age, such a thing can be considered acceptable."

Aisha noted that the incident took place on July 1 at the Starbucks Café in the "Target" store, which is one of the largest retailers in the United States.

The employee who presented the cup to Aisha claimed that she had not heard the name correctly, while Aisha denied that allegation and said that she repeated her name repeatedly when she submitted her request.

According to the lawsuit submitted, when Aisha asked to speak with the manager of the café to convey the picture, the latter considered that what happened did not happen intentionally and that such mistakes usually occur with customers.

Aisha is represented in the case by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, "CARE", which filed the case on behalf of Aisha to the Minnesota Human Rights Department on Monday.

And calls for "CARE" to expel the personnel involved in the incident, according to "CNN."

In turn, the company "Target", in a statement sent to "CNN", apologized for the incident.

"We investigated it and we believe it was not an intentional act but an unfortunate mistake that could have been avoided with a simple clarification," she said.

"We take appropriate measures with the team member, including additional training, to ensure that this does not happen again."

While the company "Starbucks" refused to comment on the incident, a spokesman for the company told "CNN" that the relevant Starbucks branch is located inside the "Target" store, and this means that this branch is completely managed and operated by "Target".
