The Australian government has warned its citizens to refrain from traveling to Hong Kong, alerting China to the expansion of the Hong Kong National Security Law.

The Australian government recommended that Australians concerned about the Hong Kong Security Law "review the need to stay in Hong Kong."

The Australian government said it adjusted the alert, saying that the vaguely defined Hong Kong security law could have increased the risk of Australians being detained.

The Hong Kong Security Law, which has been implemented in Hong Kong since the beginning of this month, requires those who participated in collusion with foreign forces, national divisions, overthrow of the regime, and terrorism to the highest possible imprisonment.

In particular, the Hong Kong Security Law allows individuals and organizations who have acted hostilely or leaked confidentiality without specifically identifying the targets for judicial treatment, and even foreigners who have committed offenses outside of Hong Kong.
