The tarantula was seized by the gendarmerie with the help of agents from the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB). According to Ouest-France , the seller was arrested in Montreuil-Juigné. The gendarmes were already known for other facts. Prosecuted for contempt, he was imprisoned. The big spider has been entrusted by the OFB to a person capable of handling it.

In France, owning and selling a tarantula must be done with different authorizations. The regulations are very strict.
