08 July 2020 U.S. President Donald Trump has officially withdrawn the United States from the World Health Organization. According to the rules of the Organization, which requires one year's notice, the release date will be July 6, 2021.

Despite the $ 400 million cut threatened by Trump last May, the US will have to comply with its remaining financial obligations for Next year. WHO had been accused by the president of inefficiency and flattening over China's positions during the Covid-19 pandemic. In late May, Trump had said that China exercised "total control" over the WHO. The Trump administration also accused the WHO of ignoring early human-to-human transmission signals in China, including warnings from Taiwan - which, due to pressure from Beijing, is not part of the United Nations.

Joe Biden will reverse Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization "on the first day" of his presidency if he wins the November 3 election. "Americans are safer when America is committed to strengthening global health. On the first day of my presidency, I will return to WHO and reaffirm our global leadership."

Dem MPs have accused Trump of trying to divert criticism from his pandemic management in the United States, which has by far suffered the highest death toll in any nation. "Calling Trump's response to the chaotic and inconsistent coronavirus does not do it justice," said Senator Robert Menendez, the top Democratic exponent of the Foreign Relations Committee. "This won't protect American lives or interests - it leaves Americans sick and America alone," he wrote on Twitter.
