At the turn of the year, the new extension will be ready and accommodate two classrooms and the same number of group rooms. In addition, a lift will be built to make it easier for people with disabilities to move between floors. In total, the expansion is estimated to cost six million.

- Now that the student base and the need looks like it does, we said that we should obviously join and expand the school if there is a need. This is a fantastic example of creating future faith throughout the village, ”says Hans-Erik Näslund of the property owner Docksta BTK.

Lack of pre-school places

The school was bought by Docksta BTK fifteen years ago. After a longer lease where the municipality rented itself in the premises, they chose instead to form a free school in Docksta. Over the years, the number of children has increased in the area, which has created a shortage of primarily pre-school places. Families have instead been referred to preschools in another place.

- That shortcoming will no longer exist, states Malin Pettersson, who is the chair of the free school.

Ready for the turn of the year

When the spring term starts next year, it is intended that the extension can be put into operation, but it may be sooner than that.

- We have said first January but we see that things are going well now so it can be a month earlier if it continues like this, says Hans-Erik Näslund.
