The Vik family from Röke outside Hässleholm on Monday were on their way to Karlskrona to start the summer camping holiday.

Along the way, Charly, Robin and their two children stopped at Hällevik's campsite to greet Robin's parents. But when they were driving from there, they discovered that the caravan caught fire.

- We had just put the son in his car seat and the daughter was sitting next to it. But we got out, which was lucky. It was just to run away with them, as fast as we could, says Charly Vik.

Not known how the fire started

The fire spread to the car which was also destroyed. What caused the fire is unclear - and the family will probably never know.

- It is not possible to examine the caravan. The police write a case and there is no suspicion of crime. It was the only thing they could do. You would have liked to know what happened to it, but now it is like this, says Charly Vik.

Will you be camping again?

- Not this summer - in that case in a cabin, we have said. But yes, the kids and the man still want a caravan. But in that case, it will probably be a slightly newer caravan so that you are completely hundred on safety.

The insurance did not apply

Now Charly Vik wants to encourage other caravan owners to be careful to look through their caravans.

- So that everything is in top condition. And that you look through their insurance so that they really apply to, for example, a fire.

Did your caravan insurance apply?

- No, we had been stupid and missed this. We thought the car insurance went well, but it didn't in our case. But our home insurance covers everything that was inside the caravan and we obviously have car insurance, says Charly Vik.

In the video you can see pictures of the caravan before, during and after the fire.
