In a surprise song released Wednesday night on YouTube and Facebook, Renaud takes up the subject of the coronavirus, taking up the cause of the controversial professor Didier Raoult.

"Coronavirus, asshole of viruses". It is the refrain of the surprise title released by Renaud, where he takes up the cause of the controversial Professor Didier Raoult, in a clip visible on YouTube and Facebook, Wednesday evening. We see the singer in a leather jacket, bare arms and tattooed, singing in a garden - near Isle sur la Sorgue, in the Vaucluse where he resides, specifies the final credits - in front of two guitarists and a bass player, a chorister joining then the group.

"When I think of the brave Doctor Raoult / Conchie by jealous colleagues / By ovipositions, luminaries / Who have the mussels (who are afraid, Editor's note) to lose wheat", we hear him declaim in his hoarse voice, worn out by years and past excesses.

"For all the friends who suffered from this fucking virus"

A fervent defender of hydroxychloroquine, Professor Raoult always arouses controversy. His latest conflict of interest charges - before the National Assembly's Commission of Inquiry into the Covid-19 - have recently provoked anger from the targeted public bodies.

The video ends with Renaud who lowers his emblematic red bandana used as a mask, to drop his famous "tain tain tain". Then we read on a message written by his hand: "For all the friends who suffered from this fucking virus, for all the caregivers, friendships".

Last winter, the 68-year-old artist released a new album, "Kids and Children First".
