The ecological mayor of Grenoble Éric Piolle has a "different strategy" from that of Yannick Jadot for the presidential election of 2022, deeming "fundamental" to take the time to "create a team" before choosing a candidate.
"Yannick wants to be a candidate. He said so. He was already our candidate in 2017 - he was invested by our political party, after he decided to withdraw but that was his choice - and he wants to be at new candidate, "Piolle said on France Inter radio on Wednesday.
"I work for our political space to win. These are two strategies that are different," added the man who had won in 2014 the first city of more than 100,000 inhabitants for the Greens and who was easily re-elected at the end of June.
In an interview published Sunday by the Sunday Journal, MEP Yannick Jadot said "to prepare" for the presidential election in 2022, calling "as soon as the start of the school year" for a "rally around the ecology" and "forces of left who wish ".
"Today, what interests me is to see how we create a team to win. We are in the process of composing this team. We have to find all the positions but the time to find the one who will put, like in 1993, head to the bottom of the goals for the first victory of Marseille and France in the Champions League (football, note), that moment is not yet found ", continued Wednesday Eric Piolle.
Could he apply himself? "Today is not the question. The question is to create the team, the project, a winning team ... It took time in Grenoble to build this; it took time time in all the cities that have emerged. Let’s take that time, that’s what’s fundamental, "he concluded.
