US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday urged the United Nations Security Council to extend the arms embargo against Iran, and said that the United States and its allied forces last month seized a ship carrying weapons to Houthi rebels in Yemen.
"The Security Council must extend the arms embargo on Iran to prevent further conflicts in the region ... No one serious can believe that Iran will use the weapons it acquires for peaceful purposes," Pompeo said at a press conference at the State Department.
