On June 25th, some netizens left a message to the Peng Qinghua Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee on the message board of the People's Network, saying: "On the afternoon of December 29, 2017, the Fourth Plenary Session of the Seventh Session of the CPC Leshan City and the Second Plenary Session of the Economic Work Conference Held. At the meeting, the participating Leshan City Committee members voted to pass the "Plan on Renaming the Central District of Leshan City to Jiazhou District of Leshan City." On October 18, 2013, Jiajiang County's work to withdraw the county and set up the district passed the experts of the Ministry of Civil Affairs Consultation and argumentation. Excuse me, how is the progress of the city's central district renamed as Jiazhou District and Jiajiang County has withdrawn from district establishment?"
In response, the Leshan Civil Affairs Bureau and the Jiajiang County Civil Affairs Bureau of Leshan City gave an official response on July 6.
Among them, regarding the name change of Shizhong District, the reply stated, "Since 2010, the city has twice started to change the name of Leshan Shizhong District to Jiazhou District of Leshan City, and reported to them in 2012 and 2018 respectively. The Provincial People's Government reported to the State Council without approval; it was reported to the Provincial People's Government again in 2018, and no new progress is currently available."
Regarding the issue of withdrawing counties and districts in Jiajiang County, the reply stated: “In 2011, according to the goal of Leshan City’s “three major linkages and six major leaps”, Jiajiang County initiated the removal of county counties in accordance with the requirements of integrating into the development of Leshan Yongjiang District work. In May 2012, Jiajiang County will revoke the request for the establishment of Jiajiang District in Lejiang City, Jiajiang County and report it to the People’s Government of Leshan City; In September 2012, the People’s Government of Leshan City will revoke the establishment of Jiajiang County in Jiajiang County The district's request was reported to the Sichuan Provincial People's Government.
“In January 2013, the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government has submitted the request for the removal of counties in Jiajiang County to the State Council; in October 2013, the expert group of the Ministry of Civil Affairs conducted an examination and acceptance of the removal of counties in the county, but Jiajiang County The request for the withdrawal of the county into districts has not yet been approved by the State Council."
