Ivorian Prime Minister and candidate of the ruling party in the October presidential election, Amadou Gon Coulibaly, died Wednesday in Abidjan after the cabinet meeting at the age of 61, announced the secretary general of the presidency Patrick Achi on public television.

"I am deeply saddened to announce that Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly, head of government, left us early this afternoon after having taken part in the Council of Ministers," said Patrick Achi, reading a press release from President Alassane Ouattara. Amadou Gon Coulibaly returned last Thursday from France after two months of hospitalization for heart problems.
