The Civil Guard has charged a 38-year-old man for killing 15 deer, fallow deer, roe deer and a mouflon during the last two years on a farm in the municipality of Villamanta. He decapitated all the animals to make hunting trophies with their heads. He is accused of a crime related to the protection of flora and fauna (poaching) and faces up to two years in prison and fines of fines of 10,000 euros. The hunter has been seized with a rifle, 308 caliber cartridges, several different caliber sheaths detonated, camouflage clothing, a portable radio, spotlights and bait for animals, as well as a bag with remains of blood.

The investigations began in 2018, when the guard of the Villamanta farm filed several complaints where he pointed out the discovery of different bodies of animals that had been beheaded . The Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) established a device and the officials of the Armed Institute of Villamanta were gathering data that allowed it to locate a possible suspected neighbor from the town of Valmojado (Toledo).

Thanks to this deployment, the San Martín de Valdeiglesias patrol agents discovered the off-road vehicle of the possible culprit on a road near the farm during the night of last February and inspected it.

Inside the car they found the weapons and blood remains. At that time, no animal or piece was found killed, so it was not possible to proceed against him, but suspecting that he might have hidden the trophy somewhere nearby, the agents decided to explore the area.

The following morning , the recent corpse of a decapitated deer was found inside the farm, from which DNA remains were obtained and sent to the Civil Guard crime laboratory to compare them with the remains of blood obtained from the belongings. of the suspect. The biological test determined that the blood in the trunk corresponded to the body of the decapitated deer. It was also a gold medal deer that can reach a price of 8,000 euros for the length of its horns. Currently, investigations continue to find out the final destination of the horns.
