By the very admission of the rescuers, it is a miracle. A 63-year-old Spanish hiker survived a fall of more than 300 meters while he was in the Néouvielle massif in the Hautes-Pyrénées. He left Tuesday morning with a friend to make the peak of Estaragne, when he fell reports France Bleu Occitanie.
A significant fall over several meters since his companion no longer saw him. He quickly raised the alarm early in the afternoon. The members of the Pierrefitte-Nestalas high mountain gendarmerie platoon then intervened and spotted him, 300 meters below, on a promontory where he had landed.
Wounded, victim of a head trauma, he was transported by helicopter to the Tarbes hospital where he was taken care of. His days are not in danger.
