The investment of just over SEK 9 million was presented during Wednesday, and the hope is that the investment will contribute to a higher quality of life for the municipality's elderly.

SEK 4.4 million is earmarked for staffing the municipality's elderly housing with the aim of giving staff more social time with the elderly, ie time for walks, coffee and activities. The money is part of a permanent investment and will be distributed for the first time in October.

Armor for heat wave

In order to be able to handle any heat waves this summer, the municipality also buys cooling products for SEK 1.8 million. These include portable AC systems and umbrellas. Refrigerator caps, cooling towels and cooling pads for the elderly, as well as cooling vests and custom work clothes for the staff.

- We made big investments some years ago and bought a lot of fans, but we can not use them now because of the risk of spreading covid-19. In our new homes, we have built-in refrigeration systems, so what we do now is to supplement those that are not newly built or newly renovated, says Mattias Ask, managing director.
