According to the speaker of the chamber, Vyacheslav Volodin, from September 1, a register of citizens will appear in Russia who are entitled to receive medicines, medical devices and specialized medical nutrition products at the expense of the federal and regional budgets.

“This will automate the analysis of the provision of citizens with medicines, increase the accuracy of forecasts of changes in needs and optimize the supply of drugs,” the Duma press service quoted Volodin as saying.

In addition, the frequency of reviewing the list of essential medicines is established - at least once a year.

As noted, the initiative aims to simplify the lives of citizens who are struggling with serious diseases so that they receive the right drugs in a timely manner and in full.

“Therefore, it is very important that by the time the law comes into force in full (January 1, 2021), the government has adopted all the necessary by-laws,” Volodin added.

In mid-February, the government supported the bill.
