On April 5, 2018, the Petrozavodsk City Court acquitted Dmitriev of the article on the manufacture of child pornography, as well as the article on depraved acts against an adopted daughter. However, he was found guilty of illegal possession of parts of a firearm. He was sentenced to a restriction of liberty for a period of 2 years and 6 months.
Later, the Supreme Court of Karelia quashed the sentence, sending the case for review. At the end of June 2018, a new criminal case was opened against Dmitriev about violent acts of a sexual nature in relation to the adopted daughter.
