It was during the women's Division 4 match between Skövde KIK and Stentorps IF that a player in Skövde KIK hosted and was sniffy on the pitch, which Skövde Nyheter was the first to report on.

Stentorps IF interpreted it as a corona symptom and, after the first half, demanded that the player go off the pitch if they would continue to play the match.

"Must trust each other"

The score in the match was then 1-1 and there were no more goals. Skövde IF did not agree with the opponent's ultimatum.

- We have full respect that they may be worried about getting corona, but she only had pollen allergy. If she had had corona then the whole team would have had it, they play and train so closely together, says Gunnar Pettersson, senior manager at Skövde KIK.

Removing the sniffy player from the pitch was not an option.

- Somewhere we have to trust each other and that we do not let sick players enter the pitch, says Gunnar Pettersson.

For Stentorps IF there was no question of canceling the match.

- We cannot risk the lives and health of the girls. It is not acceptable for a player to cough and snort on the pitch. We do not know them and cannot trust their judgment. It does not matter if it was pollen allergy, if you have symptoms during these times you should stay indoors and not on the plan, says Claes Ahlin, manager of Stentorps IF.

The incident is being investigated

Now the event is being investigated by the Västergötland Football Association.

- This is the first time this is happening in a Swedish football. It will be the basis for something similar happening and it is therefore important that a detailed investigation of the incident is made, says Johan Gustavsson.

The federation has taken note of the judge's version and is now collecting statements from Skövde IF and Stentorps IF. The competition committee will then decide what the consequences will be.
