Today, Tuesday, the Egyptian Court of Cassation decided to postpone the appeal of the former Egyptian Minister of Information and former Shura Council Speaker, Safwat al-Sharif, to a 3-year prison sentence and a fine of 99 million pounds for his conviction for achieving an unlawful gain, for the September 15th session and his detention, and Safwat Al-Sharif surrendered himself today to the forces Security of the court as a compulsory measure to accept the appeal in form.

Al-Sharif attended the session today, and the security services kept him in the court until the court's decision, then he was transferred to prison.

On September 9, 2018, the Cairo Criminal Court ruled that former Shura Speaker Safwat al-Sharif be sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 99 million, 49 thousand and 974 pounds, and the innocence of his son Ihab, in re-trying them in the case of graft.

The Criminal Court also obliged the sheriff at the time to return such an amount in the face of his wife Iqbal and his sons Ihab, Ashraf and Iman, to the extent that each of them benefited from unlawful gain, while obliging him to pay the criminal expenses.

Safwat al-Sharif had submitted a reconciliation request to the graft, to settle the cases in which he was accused with the state in exchange for paying his financial dues, and set 36 million pounds, but the device referred his request to a technical committee to examine it and estimate the value of the dues on him, which was initially estimated at about 210 million fairy.

During the trial, the sheriff sought to postpone the case to end the record of reconciliation with the graft, and the defense also provided evidence of the ceding of 4 plots of land in the Fayed region amounting to 44 million pounds, in exchange for what was mentioned in the report of the Committee of Experts, as well as reports that decisions were issued without face To file a lawsuit for the crimes attributed to his client with a total value of 150 million pounds, except that the court issued its advanced ruling.
