The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Morocco decided to gradually reopen mosques in the total national territory for the five daily prayers, starting from the noon prayer next Wednesday, July 15th, taking into consideration the local epidemiological situation and the conditions of health monitoring that local committees will conduct in the doors of the mosques.

The same source stated that the mosques will remain closed for Friday prayers until the date is announced, at which time, they will be opened for this prayer.

The ministry’s statement stated that “taking into account the legitimate interest of not harming the infection with others requires that everyone who senses the symptoms of the epidemic not go to the mosque.”

The Ministry of Awqaf stressed that the worshipers in the mosque must take care to protect the measures, especially putting masks and observing the distance in the row by a distance of one and a half meters between a person and a person until the conditions for consolidating rows are met, avoiding gathering inside the mosque, before and after the prayer, and avoiding handshaking and crowding, especially when leaving.

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs stressed the need to sterilize hands with a solution (available in the mosque’s door), measure the temperature (by a person in charge), and ensure the use of special carpets, and the continued closure of health facilities in mosques.
