According to the boat industry's national association, the increase in boats sold has been so extreme that it is hardly possible to get hold of a new boat. According to the sea rescue, the increase is marked by, in particular, many new seafaring boat owners. The seafarer Niklas Eriksson works with salvage and assistance, among other things - and he notices the big increase with more alarm calls.

- We get much easier questions. For example, my engine is broken. The sea is dangerous and we find that many people do not have anchors on board, which is a matter of course, says Niklas Eriksson to SVT.

Many new unaccustomed drivers

As more and more people chose to go out on the lake, it has also become an intensive summer for harbor host Johan Lundin. Never before has he had such a hectic start to the boat summer - which has barely begun.

- I've probably never had to help people add. Lately today, there was a woman who threw in the water when she was going to tamp me. Then I've had many people spinning half an hour and then giving up. There are many uncertainties, he says.

Holidays on the lake

Jonas Ekman, from Stockholm, has this summer chosen to vacation on the lake when he borrowed a relative sailing boat. When SVT met him in the Stockholm archipelago, he got help fixing the engine.

- Now three guys are running and trying to fix my engine when there was some fuse that had gone. It has been a little chaotic day even though it is fantastic to be out in the archipelago, he says.
