The president of Brazil, the controversial Jair Bolsonaro, has just tested positive for the coronavirus to which he has been subjected this Tuesday. He underwent this analysis after presenting some of the symptoms of the disease during the weekend. In addition, before even knowing the result, he had already started taking hydroxychloroquine , the controversial drug that, without scientific evidence of its effectiveness, has been defended on numerous occasions by the far-right president.

Bolsonaro went to the Brasilia Armed Forces Hospital on Monday, where they performed a lung x-ray, after presenting symptoms since Saturday , including 38 of fever, according to the newspaper O Globo .

Upon his return to the Alvorada Palace, his acolytes crowded as usual in the vicinity to greet the Brazilian president, who has stopped for a few moments to convey that "the lung was clean", while telling them that he would submit again to a test of coronavirus, the result of which will be known this Tuesday.

In this case, the Brazilian president asked his followers not to get too close, in contrast to the crowd baths that are often given away at the entrance to the official residence. For now, Bolsonaro had canceled his schedule scheduled for this week until he found out if he has contracted the disease, which he has described as the "flu" and of which he claimed to be immune due to his "athlete's history."

Despite the symptoms he has been presenting since the weekend, President Bolsonaro spared no hugs and handshakes, all without wearing a mask, during a lunch he held on Saturday with some of his ministers and other political authorities to commemorate on United States Independence Day at the Brazilian residence of the American ambassador, Todd Chapman.

Among the guests were the holders of the Government Secretariat, Luiz Eduardo Ramos; Defense, General Fernando Azevedo; of Foreign Affairs, Ernesto Araújo; and that of Casa Civil, also General Walter Braga Netto; as well as one of his sons, the deputy for Sao Paulo Eduardo Bolsonaro.

In the last hours, Bolsonaro has also withdrawn the mandatory use of a mask in prisons despite the continuous increase in cases in the country using his presidential veto, which has also been applied so that establishments are not obliged to provide masks free of charge to its workers and collaborators.

Brazil has recorded 1,623,284 cases and 65,487 deaths so far since the epidemic was declared.
