Nearly half of all covid-19 deaths have lived in special housing. The Inspectorate for Healthcare and Care, IVO, has previously examined 1,000 elderly care businesses - and then discovered "serious deficiencies" in every ten residents.

Thereafter, IVO has deepened its review and looked more closely at care and treatment at the country's 1,700 special housing for the elderly during the corona pandemic. Among other things, when it comes to the opportunity to receive oxygen treatment.

Press meeting on the review

The results are presented at a press conference on Tuesday, attended by Social Minister Lena Hallengren (S) and Sofia Wallström, Director General of IVO.

In a number of articles, SVT Nyheter has examined the elderly care during the corona pandemic. Among other things, we have been able to show that the country's elderly residents had a 30 per cent mortality rate during the most intensive corona weeks and tried to map how the infection entered the housing corridors.
