In the municipalities of Southern Sweden, Eskilstuna, Flen and Katrineholm, there are five of the dwellings to be inspected further by IVO. Infection protection physician Maria Remén tells Aktuellt that they have already started to strengthen health care and care for the elderly.

- We had an early social spread in Sörmland early with many sick people and also cases in the elderly. I think it is great that you go on with this and see what the shortcomings are, says Maria Remén.

The remen says that in the region of Sörmland, at the beginning of the pandemic, they worked according to the national guidelines that existed and that they introduced early visitor restrictions in the elderly care. She also says that they looked over the health care and the possibility of caring for patients in hospitals.

According to IVO, there are examples of people who have not received individual assessments and who have now passed away?

- It's not good, of course. You have the right to individual assessment and treatment plan.

Maria Remén believes that many lessons have been learned from the corona pandemic and believes that the region of Sörmland is better prepared for a possible second wave. Among other things, she says that you will continue the educational efforts around basic hygiene.

- We are also testing many more worm liners now and not just those being cared for in hospitals or the elderly, says Remén.

"The housing has not received proper care"

IVO believes that a number of problems have been brought to the attention of the housing that is now to be reviewed:

- There are examples that people have not received individual assessment or in sufficient time. Or that you have not received the care that the individual assessment says you need, says Sofia Wallström, Director General of IVO.

Other problem areas that have been noted in the review are staffing problems, hygiene routines and staff who have gone between sick and healthy care workers without protective equipment.
