The giant hatch can be dangerous to humans and animals because the plant juice, in combination with sunlight, causes severe blisters on the skin that remain for a long time.

The County Administrative Board believes that many landowners are too afraid of the giant hatch and therefore dare not fight the plant to the extent required. The authority now wants to educate and show how to easily remove several plants in a short time.

- We want to show that you can fight it yourself. You know how to do it is very simple but you have to wear protective clothing, says Elvira Isacsson Nilsson, nature conservation officer at the county administrative board in Blekinge.

The plant has a negative impact on biodiversity and competes with the animals and plants that are naturally found in the area. Therefore, landowners have a responsibility to fight the plant if it is on the ground.
