The controversy over the new security law in Hong Kong is reaching social networks. Google, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram say they refuse to cooperate with the authorities until they understand the details of this text and have it examined by human rights experts. 

"We believe freedom of expression is a basic human right and support the right of people to express themselves without fear for their safety or other repercussions," said Facebook.

The text provides for a fine of 100,000 Hong Kong dollars (11,500 euros) for a supplier who does not comply with the law. Employees are liable to prison terms. 

The TikTok application, which does not operate in China, but which was created by a Chinese man and who belongs to the Chinese group Bytedance goes even further and withdraws from the territory. A likely response to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who threatened on Foxnews on Monday to ban the application.
