Offenbach (dpa / tmn) - Hyundai is giving the i30 a facelift. The compact from Korea is now available with retouched design, modernized engines and expanded equipment, the manufacturer said.
Still available in three body styles, the prices for the i30 will in future start at 18,511 euros for the five-door and 19,486 euros for the station wagon. The Fastback is a cross between sedan and coupe for at least 27 869 euros in the list.
New look and digital cockpit
While the refreshed can be recognized on the outside by new aprons, sills and headlights, there is above all an update for the cockpit on the inside. Digital instruments are now mounted behind the steering wheel, and a large touchscreen with an online connection, on which navigation and infotainment run, is now freestanding above the center console. Hyundai has also sharpened the senses of the assistance systems and, for example, upgraded an automatic emergency call.
Mild hybrid system for the more powerful petrol engines
A lot is happening under the hood, according to Hyundai, where there is a choice between three petrol engines and two diesels. New are the basic petrol engine with 1.5 liter displacement and 81 kW / 110 PS as well as the 48 volt mild hybrid system for the other two petrol engines.
Both the 1.0 liter three-cylinder with 88 kW / 120 PS and the four-cylinder with 1.5 liter displacement and 117 kW / 159 PS are now driven by an electric starter generator and are therefore more economical. For them, Hyundai has also developed a manual transmission with an automated clutch that further reduces consumption.
The two 1.6-liter diesels with 85 kW / 115 PS or 100 kW / 136 PS, on the other hand, still have to make do with a conventional starter. According to Hyundai, the most economical gasoline engine has a standard consumption of 5.0 liters of CO2 emissions of 115 g / km, for diesel the table starts with 4.1 liters and 103 g / km.
