The document says that the proposed changes are due to the adoption of the law on amendments to the Constitution of Russia.

“The restrictions are established regarding the presence of certain officials of the citizenship of a foreign state or a residence permit or other document confirming the right to permanent residence of a Russian citizen in the territory of a foreign state. The Russian government supports the bill, ”the text says.

In late February, senators Andrei Klishas and Konstantin Kosachev submitted to the State Duma a bill banning foreign citizenship for ambassadors.

In January, Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko proposed expanding the list of people who are forbidden to have foreign citizenship or a residence permit in another country, to diplomats.
