Monday's evening ended badly at the Brognard leisure center, near Montbéliard. A 17-year-old young man who came with friends to bathe drowned, reports France Bleu Belfort.

Called around 7:30 p.m., the base's swimmers and rescuers managed to get the victim out of the water, before resuscitating him with a cardiac massage. But the transfer to the hospital in Trévenans was fatal to him. The young man died at the North Franche-Comté hospital center.

An investigation was opened and entrusted to the gendarmes of the Montbéliard research brigade.
