The trial of the "gang of highway pirates" began this Monday morning before the criminal court of Nîmes (Gard). Five men are suspected of having robbed luxury car owners in 2017 on the A7 and A9 motorways.

They are accused of having forced drivers to stop on the edge of the highway, before skinning them.

A Nîmes escaped and then found

Among the five alleged robbers, is a Nîmes who had escaped on January 28, 2019, thanks to an armed commando, in front of the Tarascon courthouse (Bouches-du-Rhône) before being found in an isolated hamlet of Gard .

The trial will run until Wednesday.
