Thus, he commented on the negotiations of the countries participating in the Open Skies Treaty (DON).

As the diplomat noted, recently the USA more and more often refuse to fulfill its obligations and terminate the agreements.

“We have lost confidence in Washington as a counterparty and, probably, we need to start gradually restoring it,” Ryabkov said.

He noted that confidence will have to be restored in small steps.

Ryabkov said earlier that Russia and the United States could not bring the positions together at the conference under the agreement. 

On May 21, US President Donald Trump announced the US withdrawal from DON. As specified in the State Department, the decision takes effect six months after the announcement.
