As noted, work to reduce the risks of importation and spread of plague, including monitoring the situation in neighboring countries, is ongoing.

“The situation regarding the plague and other infectious diseases dangerous to humans in transboundary territories is under the control of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare,” the report said.

Earlier, adviser to the director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Maleev, said that there is no danger of the spread of bubonic plague in Russia, however, isolated cases are possible.

It was reported that a patient with suspected plague was identified in the Bayan-Ulgiy region in western Mongolia, bordering Russia and China.
