The Stockholm-based company Student housing in Sweden plans to build 267 student housing in Gräsvik within a few years. Karlskronahem also wants to build in the area, for their part it is about 170 apartments.

- The idea is that we will put the shovel in the ground during the spring, says Björn Eliasson, CEO of Karlskronahem.

Apartments should be demolished

Student housing in Sweden currently has 118 apartments in Gräsvik. The plan is for them to be demolished within 1.5 to 2 years and replaced with more than 200 student apartments. Karlskronahem hopes to fill the gap between demolition and new production.

- The ideal scenario is that we are ready with one stage just before the demolition begins, says Björn Eliasson.

Important with attractive housing

Karlskrona Municipality also looks positively at the construction plans.

- The university and the students are important to us and then it is good with attractive student housing, says Kristina Stark, head of environmental and community building management at Karlskrona municipality.

By 2023, everything will be completed.

- There can never be too many student housing, says Arian Watti at the Blekinge Student Union.
