Xin'anjiang Reservoir is the largest reservoir in East China built in 1959. The area of the reservoir is about 580 square kilometers and the total storage capacity is 21.626 billion cubic meters. It is the most important control project in the upper reaches of the Qiantang River. Affected by this round of heavy rainfall, the water level of Xin'anjiang Reservoir continued to rise.
According to the news released by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government's Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters on the morning of the 6th, the water level of the Xin'anjiang Reservoir reached 106.43 meters (106.5 meters in the flood season); at 11:00, the water level of the Xin'anjiang Reservoir reached 106.5 meters, which had reached the flood limit water level. There is still an upward trend. It is predicted that there will be heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of Xin'an River recently. Zhejiang Provincial Defense Index has issued an emergency alert for the high water level of the Xin'anjiang Reservoir. It is reported that the Xin'anjiang Reservoir Dispatch Expert Group has completed the second consultation and will hold the third consultation on the afternoon of the 6th.
At 11:00 on the 6th, the Flood Control and Drought Control Headquarters of Hangzhou Jiande City People's Government decided to upgrade the flood control emergency response to level Ⅰ. In addition to Jiande, Hangzhou Xiacheng, Gongshu, West Lake, Yuhang, Lin'an, Chun'an, Qiantang New District, and West Lake Scenic Area have all started flood control level III emergency response.
The Zhejiang Provincial Department of Natural Resources also announced that Hangzhou (Yuhang, Fuyang, Lin'an, Tonglu, Chun'an) has a high geological hazard meteorological risk (yellow warning) from 8:00 on the 6th to 8:00 on the 7th.
