The appointment Monday to the post of Keeper of the Seals of the lawyer Eric Dupond-Moretti is a "declaration of war on the magistrature", estimated the USM, majority union among the magistrates, in a declaration to AFP.

"To name a personality so divisive and who despises magistrates to this point is a declaration of war on the judiciary," said Céline Parisot, president of the Union of Magistrates' Union.

"Eric Dupond-Moretti seems to hate magistrates whom he does not hesitate to insult regularly, he wants the abolition of the National School of Magistrates (ENM), the split of the body (seat / prosecution), that is all 'opposite of what the USM is wearing,' she vilified.

"He is also a complainant in a personal capacity in several cases and will manage the career of the magistrates of the parquet floor?", Asked the president of the USM.

"What is the message when in addition the Minister of Justice is relegated so far in the protocol order (in 10th position, editor's note)? The most total contempt for Justice," pointed out Céline Parisot.

The Magistrates Union (SM, classified on the left) said it was "challenged by (the) signal" of the appointment of the criminal lawyer.

"We wonder a bit about his latest statements on the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) and on certain magistrates", explained to AFP Lucille Rouet, national secretary of the SM.

At the end of June, Eric Dupond-Moretti had qualified as "barbouzes methods" the investigations of the PNF, who peeled his detailed telephone bills ("fadettes"), like those of several other lawyers, to try to identify the "mole" who could have informed Nicolas Sarkozy that he was tapped.

The SM will be "very vigilant about the place of institutions and attention to the judiciary," added Lucille Rouet.
