As a precaution, the Australian authorities have just closed the borders of a territory as large as a third of France

We must contain the disease , prevent the virus from spreading outside Melbourne, the second largest city in the country. As of Tuesday, no more residents will be able to leave the State of Victoria unless there are imperative reasons. This decision comes after a dark weekend for local authorities.

The government had to order the total containment of eight social housing projects after a series of infections, the origin of which is still unknown. This measure, which must remain in force until July 29, concerns more than 300,000 residents of Melbourne, which has 5 million inhabitants. The tests are in progress.

Residents fed by state services

In the meantime, these buildings are placed under police surveillance with agents posted on each floor, accompanied by an absolute exit ban for all residents.

The inhabitants will be fed by the state services, apartment by apartment, to avoid any risk taking. The executive hopes to see the end of this new health crisis within a fortnight

To date, Australia has recorded more than 8,500 cases of coronavirus and 105 deaths.
