Concerns persist about the state of health of General Mokoko, hospitalized since last Thursday, in a military establishment in Brazzaville. In recent days, contradictory information has circulated on the state of health of the 73-year-old opponent and in prison since 2016.

According to a last press release from one of his French lawyers, he did not finally contract the coronavirus , but the mobilization, including diplomatic, continues to try to obtain as quickly as possible his medical evacuation in order to allow him to receive appropriate care.

According to this latest press release, it is in fact an acute malaria crisis, aggravated by the hypertension from which General Mokoko has suffered for several years, which would explain the sudden deterioration in his state of health. It must be said that access to the opponent in the military hospital where he is hospitalized is very severely limited, which would explain this confusion.

The UN " concerned "

Be that as it may, the concern does not drop , and more and more voices are rising to demand its evacuation abroad. This is what is claimed by his relatives, but also this Monday morning, the main platform of civil society, as well as the political coalition which had supported his candidacy in 2016 for the presidential election. According to our information several foreign countries, African and beyond have also intervened in recent days in favor of the general.

On the side of the United Nations also we say "  very concerned  " and we ask President Denis Sassou-Nguesso to " do whatever is  necessary to save the life  " of the opponent. Especially since in 2018, the UN group of experts on arbitrary detentions had ordered his "  immediate and unconditional release  ". Without further action.

Meanwhile, his family opposes his transfer to the Leyono clinic in Brazzaville. A clinic dedicated to the treatment of Covid-19 and considered as a "  dying house  " according to one of his lawyers, Me Tricaud. According to him, such a transfer would amount to condemning the general "  to certain death  ".

The Congolese authorities have declined to speak for the moment.
