Andrés Suárez. El Ferrol, 1983. The singer-songwriter has just released his new album, the ninth of his career, and is as excited as if it were his first. After confinement, he is looking forward to taking the stage. It begins on July 10 in Vigo and will travel throughout the country in the coming weeks.

His new album was scheduled for March, but it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Yes, a week before the closure we already had 20 concerts and record companies closed, but what we thought was a small wave, in the end, was a tsunami that swept the whole world away. Tired of confinement? with internet and wifiI have songs, books, movies, series, piano lessons, music production, visits to museums ... We are privileged. When someone said, 'It's hell, I'm bored.' But, for God's sake! There were people on the front line who lost their lives and I, who am the son of a health worker, lived that fear and that anguish. But fortunately, my mother, who works in Galicia, was not infected and everything is fine. And I lived this confinement embraced by culture, books and music. But there is always the group that I call GMT, bad people on Twitter, who, whatever happens, everything is wrong. Festivals with thousands of people seem very far away. Yes. I have 13 families waiting to return to the concerts, professionals and technicians who are parents, grandparents or mothers. At the moment, it is going to be little by little, acoustic concerts for 150 people and with all the pertinent security measures; Health is first. If you have to give concerts for 100 people where before there were 1,000, then count on me. How were your first more massive concerts? I think Ruibal was very nervous, Ruibal is my teacher and friend, a giant. When I started it helped me a lot. I was opening for him with the theaters full and I, who am more intense than Walt Disney, started screaming, crying and jumping. One day, I approached him to apologize for my nerves and my screams. He said: 'never ask me for forgiveness for that, do it when you don't care about your work'. Does the scenario hook a lot? It's the most powerful drug I've ever tried. It is affection and love; the opposite of this new reality that comes out on Twitter, in which we are all pissed off, when now we have to make love, touch and kiss each other, instead of assaulting or insulting us for politics or for whatever reason. I can't understand it, we should be closer than ever. The stage is unity and you make someone cry; an act of love. You affirm that failure begins when you think that everything was done by filling a sports hall with public. About five years ago, I sang for 10,000 people with Serrat 'Lucía' at my end-of-tour concert. Look, I'm telling you and my hair stands on end. What can I tell you about the most important moment of my life! The largest, like Ruibal, Milanés, Sabina, Serrat and Víctor Manuel, are the most humble and normal. No one is back in music. Now that we live in the age of the internet, in which the public has access to music for free and quickly, we cannot take it for a fool. If you compose songs to sell and put little faces to look good in the photo, people will see it for miles, it will catch you. Are you afraid of failure? Today I am doing very well, but tomorrow, with the turns that life gives, if I have to go back to the subway to sing, I would do it with my head held high. And that would never be a failure because I am dedicating myself to what I love. I'm not afraid of failure because I believe in my songs more than me. He started from the bottom, singing in the Madrid metro or in empty bars; A great school. It is the largest school. When you sing in the subway, God does not stop to look at you; neither in Madrid nor in Barcelona, in which I also sang. I interpreted songs by Antonio Vega, Nacha Pop, The secrets ... It was very difficult to get someone to stand up and buy your album with the photocopied cover and with the phone written down in the back of the pen, in case you got a contract. Are you one of those who cry easily? In this Galician intensity of mine, I cry a lot. In the new album I sing ten literal and exact fragments of my life and that makes you cry. This intensity, sometimes, leaves me exhausted, but I don't think it will change. What do you want to have with your new album? I want to convey a message of eternal gratitude to those responsible for the fact that a village Galician, with much honor, was able to fulfill your dream and have been able to write songs and live from them. How much should the public influence the musicians? I listen and see where the tastes go, but I will never obey the public because it is impossible to please everyone. Do you know what i do Which I feel like, because otherwise I couldn't sleep. I try to make songs that make me cry and so maybe I'll get others excited.
