A bus driver has been in a state of brain death after being attacked by a group of people whom he did not allow to board because they were not wearing the mandatory face masks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The event occurred on Sunday night in the French city of Bayonne.

When the driver of the Chronoplus company, about 50 years old, tried to prevent the group from entering without a mask, he was repeatedly punched, causing serious head injuries . He was transferred unconscious to the hospital and on Monday morning the doctors have declared that he is in a state of brain death. According to police sources cited by AFP, only one of the attackers was arrested after the attack and four other people have been arrested on Monday.

The bus services of the region, located next to the Spanish border, have been temporarily interrupted this Monday due to the protest of other drivers , who have refused to work to report the attack to their partner.
