Zelensky’s performance in Odessa on the occasion of the Day of the Naval Forces of Ukraine was broadcast on his Facebook page in the office.
“I will do everything for the Ukrainian fleet to be a model of power, modernity and become the real pride of Ukraine. So that we are a sea power not in distant memories of the past, but in the real present and near future, ”said the Ukrainian leader.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine should be fully aware of the situation in the sea, including in the underwater space.
“We will fully equip the Navy with missile weapons as the main deterrent,” he said.
According to him, the relevant instructions have already been given to the commander of the Ukrainian Navy.
The Ukrainian leader also called the "super important" tests of the Neptune missile system.
“Its adoption will make us an even stronger player in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas,” he said.
In addition, as Zelensky noted, Ukraine expects to receive Island and Mark VI boats as part of military assistance from the United States.
Earlier, a test site of the Odessa region tested the Ukrainian complex of ground-based cruise missiles Neptune.
According to Ukrainian military expert Mikhail Zhikhorov, Neptune was developed to contain the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
