A total of 41,000 students from Madrid will be examined in person starting tomorrow from the University Access Assessment (EvAU, former Selectividad) , a call conditioned by the coronavirus pandemic, which will require wearing a mask throughout the test, advising one per exam.

For the first time exams last four instead of three days and students will be divided into branches to examine the trunks. In addition, there has been a significant increase in students compared to last year, of 22%, which represents around 8,000 more university applicants.

It is the first generation that faces the exam with a mask , without being able to share material and without staying on campus beyond exams , after a confinement that forced them to take the last term at a distance.

The tests will run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 6, 7, 8 and 9 and will have a staggered entry.

At the Complutense University of Madrid 13,883 students (+20.19%) will be examined , at the Carlos III University another 5,680 (+24.73%), 10,893 at the Autonomous University of Madrid (+18.87%), in the University of Alcalá de Henares 5,297 (+29.86%), another 3,975 at the Rey Juan Carlos University (+26.15%), and finally at the Polytechnic University 1,586 students (+25.77%) will be examined.

Here are all the keys to how this EvAU will be marked by the coronavirus:

Divided by branches

The first to be examined will be the Science students with Spanish Language and Literature at 9.30. Then there will be the Spanish History exam (12.00) and to end the first day with the First Foreign Language. The Social, Humanities and Arts students will repeat this agenda a day later.

On Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 it will be the turn of the optional ones, also by branches. Mathematics, Greek, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Physics, Audiovisual Culture, Economics, Geology and Design, on Wednesday. Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences, Art, Latin, Geography, Biology, Technical Drawing, Chemistry, Art History, and Additional Foreign Language on Thursday.

Flexible exams

In addition, for the first time, students will be able to mix questions from the two option blocks, A and B. This measure seeks to guarantee "equity" and that students are not harmed by not having worked in class on some content by forcing their confinement to distance learning.

The test model will not depart from the formats that the universities have made available to students and teachers for the course.

Masks

Students from Madrid must wear a mask throughout the test , one recommended per exam, and their own disinfecting gel for hand hygiene.

Anyone who has forgotten the mandatory mask or gel can request it at the information points set up by the university.

Input control

Students can only be on campus when they have an exam and in their time slot. They must arrive at the university an hour before the call so that there are no crowds and they can be accessed in an orderly manner, staggered and keeping their distances.

At the end of the exam they cannot get up , but must raise their hand to indicate that they have finished the test, waiting for the teacher to indicate how to deliver it and allow them to leave. After each exam and unless there is a test in the following time slot, you must leave the campus.

In the event that any student shows symptoms, they will be taken to a separate space, notifying the support teacher , the family and the medical services.

Appeals

The hours of the tests that on Monday and Tuesday will begin with an appeal at 8.30 and in the rest of exams with an appeal half an hour before the start of the test.

Backpack and material

Each student must bring their own water , food and materials, which they cannot share with the rest, kept in a "small backpack", which must be closed before entering the exam. The 112 recommends carrying a bottle of water to hydrate before a Monday with a yellow warning for temperatures up to 38 degrees.

Students must be punctual, avoid queues and elevators , close the backpack before entering the classroom and access after washing their hands, with soap and water or with disinfectant gel.

Transport

The Regional Transport Consortium has designed a Special Mobility Plan to guarantee the transfer and it is going to reinforce the offer of Metro , light rail, EMT and intercity and commuter buses, especially at the start and end times of the exams

On the university campuses that will host the EvAU 2020, 3 Metro lines , 1 Light Metro line, 15 EMT bus lines, 3 Cercanías train lines and 47 intercity bus lines serve .

Security

The Madrid 112 Security and Emergency Agency will deploy 2,500 Civil Protection, Samur and Local Police volunteers in a device that aims to avoid crowds and thus reduce the risk of contagion from the virus.
