The information was published on the Swedish Work Environment Authority's web site on July 3, reports the Municipal Worker.

The headline is: "You who work in elderly care and home care - how do you protect yourself?" and applies to how home service personnel should act to protect themselves from being infected by covid-19.

However, despite the fact that the information was first published in July, it was produced by the Swedish Work Environment Authority's expert group for corona as early as April, claims an officer and chemist at the authority who joined the expert group.

She states that the authority's experts wanted the information to be published, but that they encountered a patrol with the Work Environment Authority's management. It did not want to publish information aimed solely at workers, she tells the Municipal Worker.

- The management's attitude is that the working environment law is written with the requirements addressed to the employer. This is certainly true, but we also have a wealth of information that is addressed either to employers and employees or to only workers, says the chemist and administrator Maria Dalin at the Swedish Work Environment Authority, who is also a member of the corona expert group.

Protective equipment and employer responsibility

The information includes, among other things, what protective equipment is needed, how it should be handled and what kind of approval is required. The employer's responsibility to assess the work, provide protective equipment and instruct how to use it is emphasized.

But the information sheet was put aside without being published, states the administrator and chemist Maria Dalin.

Need to be reworked

Sonya Aho, press secretary at the Swedish Work Environment Authority, tells the Municipal Worker that it is not true that any text has been stopped.

On the other hand, you may have made an assessment that some information is already on the website, needs to be reworked or should go in other channels to reach the target group, for example on social media. Aho also says that it is not true that they did not want to publish information aimed at workers only.

- We already have texts that appeal to workers, so that is definitely not true, she says.
