Putin noted that the creation of the Kalmyk Autonomous Region of the working people in July 1920 was a significant event that determined the further path of development of the republic. It also contributed to the economic recovery of the region, the strengthening of the social sphere, “the preservation of its unique historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage”.
The President emphasized that during this time many infrastructure facilities were built in Kalmykia, new schools and universities, and science and healthcare institutions were opened.
“It is important that the inhabitants of Kalmykia honor the covenants of their fathers and grandfathers, their distinctive customs and traditions, work fruitfully for the benefit of their native land, and make a significant contribution to solving national problems,” the president emphasized.
