MEP Yannick Jadot says "to prepare" for the presidential election in 2022 and calls "from the start of the school year" to "rally around ecology" and "left forces who want it", in an interview with the JDD.

Asked about a possible presidential candidacy, Mr. Jadot said: "I am preparing for it. Ecology has an immense responsibility: that of gaining power to transform the lives of citizens".

After the victories of EELV at the head and sometimes in support of left-wing coalitions in several big cities last Sunday, according to him "it is necessary as of the re-entry to launch a vast rally around ecology, left forces which wish it and , beyond, citizens who find themselves in this new political matrix. "

This call to the left forces constitutes a first in the mouth of Yannick Jadot. In the European elections of May 2019, for which he led an independent EELV list, he then said that the renaissance of the left was not his subject.

"A large part of the left is going green when En Marche and Les Républicains form a front of anti-climate decline," analyzed the MEP.

PS boss Olivier Faure and EELV Julien Bayou have planned to organize a common summer university, extended to the left and civil society, but the project has so far been put back in the fall.

"We still have to widen the gathering, from the climate generation to entrepreneurs who invest massively in ecology," argued Yannick Jadot.

"Yannick wants to be a candidate as he was in 2017 and I want our political space to win: it's two slightly different strategies", opposed him on Sunday in "the Grand Jury" (RTL / LCI / Le Figaro ) EELV mayor of Eric Eric Piolle, who has not concealed national ambitions for the past few weeks.

The leader of the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon meanwhile tackled: "Yannick Jadot says that I can rally his project. Very well. Which one?"
