Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick has vowed that he will do everything in his power to retain midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who has expressed a desire to start, and defender David Alaba.

"I will do my best to ensure that we can keep two players at this level," said Flick on Saturday after Bayern's 4-2 win over Leverkusen in the German Cup final which sealed the double Championship Cup of the Bavarian club.

"I am trying to keep the team as is for the time being," he added.

Alaba, an Austrian international with only one year of contract left in Bavaria, is a pillar of the club which launched him into the professional group 10 years ago.

Thiago, recruited by Bayern in 2013, is also coming to the end of the contract next year.

The 29-year-old Spaniard is according to the press of his country coveted by Liverpool, although the president of Bayern Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said he had not yet received an offer.

"We negotiated seriously with him and gave him everything he wanted, but he seems to want to do something else for the rest of his career," the president told Bild.

Hansi Flick said he did not lose hope of convincing the Spaniard. "I will do my best to keep him. (...) We could see that he identified 100% with the club," he said.
