05 July 2020The British government would be ready to ban technology from the Chinese giant Huawei from its 5G network already this year for security reasons. The Sunday Telegraph reported that Prime Minister Boris Johnson would be ready to take the measure on the basis of indications from Gchq, the government agency that deals with communication and intelligence. Gchq has already reconsidered the guarantee provided at the time on the security of the Chinese giant's technologies.

For the 'Sunday Telegraph', British authorities are reportedly preparing proposals to prevent the installation of new Huawei equipment on the 5G network in six months already. In January, Johnson gave Huawei the go-ahead to build 35% of Britain's next generation of Internet infrastructure, with some limitations. Against the background of the news are the strong tensions between Britain and China linked to the new national security law in Hong Kong.
