France: demonstration in Ajaccio against sexual violence and for the end of the omerta

The demonstration took place this Sunday in Ajaccio at the call of #IwasCorsica. The hashtag to free the speech of those who suffered rape or sexual assault was launched as a rallying cry on social networks in early June at the initiative of young girls from Bastia. The testimonies have multiplied causing a shock wave.

“ We are the voice of those who no longer have it. The banner is unfolded in front of the Ajaccio courthouse. Masks around the face, t-shirt flocked "#IWasCorsica", nearly 400 girls and boys marched in the calm of the courthouse at the prefecture, shouting: " Shame changes sides ".
Some of these protesters testified on Twitter. They told of rapes or sexual assaults. In justice, they mean: take our complaints, never leave them unanswered.
A delegation met with the Prefect of Corsica. The spokespersons explained their demands: to talk about the concept of consent in high schools and to train the police who receive complaints of sexual assault. 70% of these complaints are currently closed.
