The European deputy Europe Ecology the Greens Yannick Jadot estimated in the JDD that the new Prime Minister Jean Castex was part of the continuity of Edouard Philippe, that is to say far away from climate concerns.

In terms of ecology, the new Prime Minister Jean Castex "is in perfect political continuity with Edouard Philippe. Neither have ever expressed any interest in the climate or biodiversity", noted Sunday Yannick Jadot in the JDD. If Jean Castex assured that ecology was "no longer an option" but "an obligation", the EELV MEP whose party recorded a strong breakthrough in municipal elections, considers that the "new path" of Emmanuel Macron and of his new head of government "looks like an old dead end".

"The world before and worse"

"While the economic recession could lead to a million additional unemployed and a great precariousness, the president begins to point the finger at the French with the same catchphrase of working more and the preference for unemployment", he criticizes.

"Rather than making us feel guilty and taking responsibility, we expect the president to accelerate the implementation of an ecological and social recovery plan that invests massively in professional transitions. And that he stops his reforms unemployment insurance and pensions ", explains Yannick Jadot.

"As for his democratic reinvention, the world is getting worse and worse," he continues, denouncing a head of state who "no longer conceals his desire to concentrate all the powers, those of the government as well as of parliament" . Asked about the citizens' convention, the MEP said that it "should have been the start of the ecological action that we have been waiting for three years. Alas, Emmanuel Macron concluded it with an electoral maneuver. The temperature is rising , the sea level too, and during this time, the president's only concern is to stop the rise of environmentalists. "

"The ecology in power is effective"

For him, "the right has absorbed macronism. What distinguishes politically Gérald Darmanin, Edouard Philippe, Bruno Le Maire, Xavier Bertrand, Valérie Pécresse, François Baroin and even Macron? Nothing". Yannick Jadot wishes to "demonstrate that ecology in power is effective for the concrete life of the French. And we plan for the upcoming deadlines" (....). But we still have to convince many French people. Emmanuel Macron divides them, while Marine Le Pen fuels hatred. We still need to expand the gathering, from the climate generation to entrepreneurs who invest massively in ecology. "

"From the start of the school year," he continues, "we must launch a vast rally around ecology, leftist forces who want it and, beyond, citizens who find themselves in this new political matrix".
