New assessments, new measures, highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- More than 530,000 dead

The pandemic has killed at least 530,865 people worldwide, according to a report compiled by AFP from official sources Sunday at 11:00 GMT.

Over 11 million cases of infection have been diagnosed in 196 countries and territories.

The United States is the most affected country, with 129,676 deaths. This is followed by Brazil (64,265), the United Kingdom (44,198), Italy (34,854) and Mexico (30,366), whose balance sheet now exceeds that of France (29,893).

- Death record in Iran ...

The Iranian health ministry announced on Sunday 163 additional deaths from Covid-19 disease, the highest official number of daily deaths in Iran since the start of the epidemic.

The previous daily record, of 162 dead, was announced Monday. With more than 11,400 deaths, Iran is the country hardest hit by the pandemic in the Near and Middle East.

- ... and contamination in Morocco

Morocco announced 698 new cases of contamination, its highest daily toll, after the appearance of a new epidemic outbreak in a canning factory in Safi (south), an industrial port city with some 300,000 inhabitants. been subjected in the night of Saturday to Sunday to a total containment.

These new cases bring the total toll to 14,132 officially listed since the beginning of March, including 234 deaths and 9,410 recoveries, according to the Ministry of Health.
