05 July 2020 Florida health authorities have reported that the state has set a tragic milestone: 200,000 people tested positive for coronavirus, including more than 10,000 in the
past 24 hours. On Saturday, the record of new infections was recorded in one day, with over 11,400. More than 3,700 people have died. About 43% of cases are concentrated in three counties: Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez told ABC Sunday that the high number of positive tests in both his county and state are "extremely worrying."
Suarez, who also had the virus in March, says it is clear that growth is "exponential at this point". Officials are closely monitoring the mortality rate, he added, which "gives the impression" that "much more stringent" measures must be taken.

The death toll in Florida is the ninth highest in the country in general and the 27th highest per capita with 17.4 deaths per 100,000 people. In the past two weeks, the
moving average number of new cases per day has increased by 5,323.1, an increase of 184.1%.
